It's been a long time...

Hey everyone!! We know you weren’t expecting to hear from us since it’s been 2 months since our last blog. We would say that we have been busy, but that would be a lie. :)

It would be too hard to tackle everything that has happened in the last two months so we will just hit the highlights.

We both had a great time at Christmas. We ate tons of AMERICAN food and spent a lot of time with family. Tina got a very special gift from her parents which has helped the second part of the season go by a little quicker. It’s called a Slingbox. If you have never heard of it, it is basically a box that goes on a TV in the US and allows the person to watch those TV channels anywhere in the world using their computer. Since our TV in our apartment only had like 4 American channels, the Slingbox has definitely come in handy.



Another nice thing about the Slingbox is that we have been able to keep up with our Vandy basketball. We have watched several girls and guys games. Good win against Ole Miss!!! :) Oh, and we wanted to give a special shout out to the seniors --- enjoy your last couple home games and take care of business!

Last week we were able to go to a men’s handball game. Handball is very popular overseas. I learned a lot about handball from Jence’s mom. She is the best handball player I know and only person I know to have ever carried the Olympic torch! :) We didn’t know a lot about the rules, but it was pretty entertaining and loud!





The weather in Slovakia has been pretty nice the past few days. It has been warming up which is nice since Tina and I are both from the West Side! A couple of weeks ago we had a lot of snow. We got to have a snow day with some of our teammates. I have never been sledding or built a snowman so this was one of my favorite memories in Slovakia. We have this pretty awesome hill behind our apartment that we went sledding on. After everyone took some turns sledding (and then walking back up the hill), we decided to take a break and make a snowman. It was a good team effort, and I think it turned out better than any of us had thought it would.





Hey everyone – this is Tina…

Basketball has been nice lately – we have won some pretty big/important games. We are now in the stage before playoffs or something like that. We still don’t really understand how it works, but we know we are fighting for 2nd to 4th place. Considering that the team finished 6th last year and was not expected to do much better than that this year, management is very happy with how the season is going. We got a new player about a month ago, and she has been a big part of our recent success. Her name is Romi, and she is from Belgium. She speaks English which is also a big plus! :-) I don’t think Jen or I will ever again take for granted the ability to communicate with our teammates!

Another highlight is that my older sister (Alana) is getting married in 9 days!!! Yay for Alana and Rick! I am leaving in a week to fly back for 4 days so I can be at the wedding. They are having a small ceremony on Laguna Beach with only immediate families in attendance. Needless to say, I can’t wait. Not only do I get to see my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law get married, but I get to go to beautiful Southern California for a couple of days! Can’t complain about that :-)
